The distribution will be on Sunday 27th, November 2011. Therefore, the deadline will be Saturday 16th, Cambodia time. The donation will be used to purchase canned tuna, smoked fish, and dried fish for the soldiers. The monk will supply instant noodles, fish sauce, soy sauce, and 10,000 rield per soldier. We will hand the donations directly to the soldiers, not to their superiors(due to bad experience in the past). It’s not a lot but it’s the least we can do to show our supports for them who are risking their lives to protect our country. Please help if you can!
The KC member who donated 200kg of rice for the first distribution will send $200 directly to me for this cause, so I’m going to Udor Meanchey. Thank you so much, my friend. ![]()
Edited: venue changed from Preah Vihear to Udor Meanchey province-prasat tamoin and prasat ta krobey.
Edited: date changed from 20th to 27th.

Amount received $448, the exchange rate was 4,033 riel to $1, so the total amount in riel was 1,806,700 riel
Expenses:
1. 5 cases of canned tuna x 166,000 riel/case= 830,000 riel (100 cans/case)
2. 103kg of pa’ok ( sour fermented fish) x 3,500 riel/kg = 357,500 riel
3. 50 kg of prohok (fermented fish)x 4,000 riel/kg = 200,000 riel
4. 130kg of sweet fermented soybean x 2,000 riel/kg = 260,000 riel
5. 30 kg of Salted fish (trey konjos)x 5,500 riel/kg = 15,9500 riel
Total expense= 1,807,000 riel
5 cases of canned tuna, 2 sacks of pa’ok(long ones), a sack of salted fish, n 26 bottles of fermented soybean (5kg each)..one sack of prohok was missing from the picture bcoz I wan’t there when it was delivered, and they put it in a bucket with other prohok, so I couldn’t put it with the rest of our donation.

We got up at 3 a.m to prepare for the trip which was at 4 a.m and got back home a lil before midnight. We distributed to soldiers at 3 different posts- prasat ta moin, prasat ta krobey, and another one near prasat ta moin. But I have pics for only the first two places because my camera was with my friend in another car and they left first. (long story)

Some of the people who went to Udor Meanchey with us on Sunday also went to Preah Vihear and spent the night there. Most of them brought their own donations n distributed to the soldiers themselves. Some of them came back crying and reporting to us about the situation over there. They said the soldiers there r more desperate than the soldiers in Udor Meanchey. They were told that tons of food n millions of dollars we saw on TV given to them by donors never got to their hands. Their leaders sold everything back to the grocery stores and kept the money. One of my students who owns a grocery store confirmed it this morning when I told them the story. She said they came with truck loads of donations to her store n others’and tried to sell to them with low price. The donations still had stickers with donors’names and locations on…..the betrayers of our country and ppl are there, hope karma gets them.
A sad story: an old lady brought some ombok* with her to preah vihear, the solders saw it and begged her to share with them bcoz they haven’t tasted it for a long time. She gave everything to them.
*that pounded rice we eat with coconuts n bananas during full moon festival the day after the water festival
Now people who heard about that story want to bring ombok, cocunuts, and bananas to the soldiers at Preah Vihear. The monk wants to arrange the trip for them but he just donated everything-money and supplies on Sunday. He asked me if I could do something to help. I told him I would relay the message to all of you…so if you want to help, please do so. Thanks.
