    Thanks Malaika!

so far it’s a long progress, but I don’t want to rush her. she refuse to sit on her little toilet, so I have been encouraging her to tell me when she poo poo and pee pee, so atleast she understands her body. She often follows me to the washroom and watches and understands what is going on, but come time for her, she refuses. the little rascal :P

to answer your question about potty training, my son is 19 months old but we have been potty training him and i would said that he is semi-trained…. lol

i bought a toilet seat since he was a year old and tried putting him on it but he was scared, struggled to get off and cry. But he would come in the bathroom with me and encourage me to “do my business” and had an understanding that I was pooping in the toilet… lol

When he was exactly 17 month old, he was pooping in his diaper so I took him to the bathroom, took off his diaper and put him on it and he didn’t fight. He pooped in the toilet. He was so proud of himself after that. For that week, I kept close watch and every time, I see him pooping, I take him to the bathroom. The following week, he started telling me himself when he wants to poop and sometimes, he even run straight ahead to the toilet. So he has been pooping in the toilet for two months now although he still wears his diaper. I can’t get him to understand to consistently tell me when he’s peeing yet. I am just happy that he’s pooping in the toilet.

In a few more months, I am going to take off his diaper and follow him around and encourage him to pee in the toilet. That’s my plan to complete his potty training so keeping my finger crosses, maybe he’ll be off his diaper by two years old.

Here are some recent pics of Miss Isabella. Don’t let the dress fool you, she doesn’t have a dainty bone in her body! :)

    Ahh, potty training….what an adventure!

Most kids aren’t really prepared to be fully potty trained until between 24-30 months, but my friend’s daughter self potty trained at 18months and I have another who potty trained her daughter at 3yrs.

my personal experience with Isabella took about 6-9 months and i started her around 18 months. In hindsight, i probably would have waited until she was at least 2 years to train. I think the entire process would be shorter if I had waited a little longer. She was trained to potty in the toilet before she learned how to poo poo. Luckily, she only #2 once every other day so it wasn’t as cumbersome.

We purchased the potty stool, but she preferred to sit on the ‘big’ toilet with the seat attachment. I think she feels like a big kid when she sits on the normal potty, so it was not a big concern of mine. It was easier for me, too. I didn’t need to wash the basin whenever she used it.

In the early months, we would take her diaper off periodically when we were at home and encouraged her to potty, but noticed that she would just wait until we put the diaper back on to pee. So eventually we gathered up all our courage and just let her wear the ‘big girl’ underwear full time without the option of wearing diapers. We risked having to clean up any accidents, but surprisingly…we only had a handful of accidents and she’s been fully potty trained for about 4-5 months now. Phew..it dragged out longer than desired, but I’m just glad she was trained before turning 3.

Oh, also! we used the good ole 1 M&M, 2M&M rewards system which was very enticing for my daughter. Do what works! :)

    Goodluck Ladies!!!

All the babies are so big now :) I just had my second one three months ago. I have to say labor was some much better the second time around. I got to the hospital at about 9:12 am and had her at 10:03 am.

    Caitlin is 28 months.

    Emma is 3 months.

Good tips :) I’ve been trying to potty train my daughter, and it’s been an uphill battle. She hates her mini potty. I think I’m going to just take away the diapers during the day and deal with the accidents. I don’t have much time, because school starts in August for me. Hopefully, she’ll be trained by then. I know it’s a little ambitious. And I’ll use the m&m system (thanks, Michelle). Wish me luck…

“what kind of mother is she to allow the doctor to do that to her baby”…. is a statement that was made about me because when i gave birth to my son, I let the doctor used a vacuum to help pull him out and it left a big bruise on his head…

i would like to ask back “what kind of person are you to be *!#@^ing about my child’s birth to other people? how does my labor has anything to do with your vagina except that you wish my husband has stick his penis in it so my son would have come out of it…”

    sorry… Just venting ladies.

Brandon at a month or two old

    Evelyn still at the hospital

Brandon and Evelyn at Greatgrandma’s house on 8.21.10

Everyone is so cute! Evelyn will be 24 months in three weeks! I haven’t started potty training her yet but there are times when she wants to sit on the toilet and something does come out. It has happen two or three times now since March. I haven’t really forced her yet since she isn’t two. Sometimes she likes to sit on the toilet even though nothing comes out and she would tell me “all done mommy” With Brandon I trained him exclusively 3 months while I introduce the potty when he was two. Luckily by the time he started preschool he got his bathroom needs down. With Evelyn I hope that by the time she starts preschool I will have her all potty trained.

How is everyone doing? One of my friend just gave birth to her third baby…and my other friend is expecting…makes me want to jump the bandwagon since in the back of my mind I did want three…but with this economy is hard to raise three child.

My daughter does not like loud noise…so she got scared when we sang Happy Birthday to her
    Taken on 9/19/10
