Hi Guys I need your HELP :)

I recently got a job as an interpreter for a refugee and immigration agency and I will be assisting someone on Wednesday. We will be speaking about the library. This will be my first “official” interpretation gig. Prior this I have always just assisted family friends and relatives, so I’m ^*&( nervous!

Can you guys suggest some things they might say or if you were going to the library what you would ask. Of course I need you to ask me or say things in Khmer. (duh.. lol):)

1- How do i obtain a membership?
2- How do i obtain an internet pass?
3- Due dates and fines?
4- Open hours?
5- How do i go about finding a certain genre of books?
6- Are there any books written in khmer?
7- Can i eat/drink in here?
8- Where are the children area ?

Tell them (in Khmer) that it’s not ok to surf the internet for porn and not to talk so loud. Also, advise them thai lakorn is not available to be checked out.

if I may add…

- Is there a khmer speaker working in this library?
- will there be someone who can help my child with his/her homework?
- If there’s a book i want to read but the library doesn’t have a copy, will they order it?
- Besides books, what other materials are available at this library? are there movies and Khmer Karaoke DVDs?

- Are Khmer classes offered at this library?
