It’s sad to see his irresponsible children letting his father do this.

The sad reality!:( Inspirational and sad, indeed!
That picture is very powerful. It’s powerful because it’s true. One situation that can be expanded to explain Cambodian society.
Old Man = weak, poor, less fortunate
Family Members = Government
Girl = Growing middle class
Umbrella = Money/Votes/Voice
Just as the family members could have helped to support the old man, the responsbility lies in the Girl and her Umbrella.
It’s sad but inspirational. Good find Saren.
It’s sad to see older people be put aside. Children should take the responsibility to help care and be there for their parents when their parents are older.
់

Don’t know if this story is true or not, but the message behind it is still quite inspiring.
“An anthropologist proposed a game to children in an African tribe. He put a basket full of fruit near a tree and told the children that whoever got there first won the sweet fruits. When he told them to run, they all took each others hands and ran together, then sat together enjoying their treats.
When he asked them why they had run like that when one could have had all the fruits for himself, they said, ‘UBUNTU, how can one of us be happy if all the other ones are sad?’ (‘UBUNTU’ in the Xhosa culture means: ‘I am because we are.)”

I like this one!

Khmer Body Building Team on Chinese news paper

Welcome to Cambodia

Once a Marine, Always a Marine

The night before the burial of her husband 2nd Lt. James Cathey of the United States Marine Corps, killed in Iraq, Katherine Cathey refused to leave the casket, asking to sleep next to his body for the last time. The Marines made a bed for her, tucking in the sheets below the flag. Before she fell asleep, she opened her laptop computer and played songs that reminded her of “Cat”, and one of the Marines asked if she wanted them to continue standing watch as she slept.
“I think it would be kind of nice if you kept doing it” she said.
“I think that’s what he would have wanted”.-Not sure what is more honorable: Being married to this faithful wife to the end or the Marine standing next to the casket watching over them both.
