Our Cambodian society has taught us not to be sexual in any way other then behind closed doors with our spouse….but why is that lately the new Khmai Karaoke has shown nudity as if it were nothing? Have we grown into an “American Way” overnight? Khmer teenages now-a-days have shown that they are more likely to adapt to “american” changes where as dating starts as early as 10 and losing ones virginity follows very closely….whereas our “tradition” only allows ladies to date only AFTER she has become engaged…is this wrong? Oh My BUDDAH we all need to PRAY!!! Just PRAY!

I laugh about the sex jokes with my parents all the time! I remember watching Showgirls with my mom one time and the pool scene came on in which Elizabeth Berkeley got all crazy and I told my mom that I wanted to learn how to swim now! She just said, “ah GOMKUUT”. My parents are always cracking sex jokes when they’re with their friends. It’s hard to contain the laughter. It’s also really weird to be hearing sex jokes from people in their 50s and 60s. Can’t laugh ’cause then they look at me funny. You know, being a Khmer woman and all, I’m not supposed to know about things like that. But hey, just ’cause I’m aware of those things doesn’t mean that I’m doing those things.

I find that MOST of the time the girls who get affended by us men generalizing women about being hoes and whores is this. They know that we are speaking the truth and it comes too close to home for them that is why they are the one who stand up and defend themselves the quickest. Women who is innocent of all charges won’t care what us men say about them as they know dang well we are not talking about them.
