Good way to put it A friend of mine got a job at the Post Office, but he only works on the weekends and “on-calls”. Sucks when you have plans to do stuff and an unexpected phone call for you to come into work intrudes that.
well, for one of my jobs, i’m on-call…and i find it to be very convenient for my schedule. either they call me, or i call them and let them know when i can work. if they call, i can always refuse. love it! funny thing is, during the summer, i was an on-call employee working full-time hours…another bright side was that i was allowed to work doubles/overtime…cha-ching!
being on call sucks if it’s all you have, which is what i am on. i do piece work for a printshop and it’s really slow right now, so i got sheeit to do. i’d rather work a 9-5 then be on call even though i get paid pretty well, they don’t call often enough.
