    That is so sad. :(

At first I didn’t know what was going on. It was happening so fast. I had to replay it. That’s when I realized she got shot in the head when she all of a sudden fell to the ground.

I think the shooter even came back and started circling around her too.

What a horror. A bunch of evil criminals and ignorant witnesses!! In addition the police and FBI system is ridiculously corrupted=satins world. I thought Cambodians would’ve been much for supportive of each other than in the states but it seems like common sense must also be educated. So pissed off-they better do something about these types of incident.

The more I live in this world, the more I hate it.

It seems like these robbers knew something we don’t for them to attempt robbery in broad daylight in the middle of a busy intersection. Where are the f-in cops? Security guards should be mandatory near shopping centers aren’t they? Where are the ambulances, etc.? I understand this is a third world country but last time I heard they were building skyscrapers and other BS. Obviously, their priorities are all wrong.

At least they had a security camera, which has proven to be a good tool to catch criminals later. But they really should invest in preventives measures.

I wonder if they caught the criminals yet and what are their punishments in Cambodia? Maybe pay a few bucks like they do in China when someone gets killed, which is stupid.

This makes me so mad. I think there’s an update to this story. Here are the Khmer language news links:

“One of possible 12 cold-blooded robbers, who brutally robbed a woman and her son and callously shot her dead, has been arrested after a tip off from the public.

On Sunday 28th August, a group of between 6-12 robbers robbed a woman of 100 million riels ($30,000) and shot her three times in a busy street and in broad daylight. The robbery was captured by a security camera which took place near Pochentong Airport. The woman was shot her 3 times after she tried wrestle back the money, hidden in a beer case, from the robbers.

The robbery began when 48 year-old Chuon Chea Theara and her 21 year-old son were transporting the $30,000 in a motorbike from Chom Chao district to exchange for the riel currency in Phnom Penh. On the way, they noticed people on motorbikes were chasing them so they sped up, taking shortcuts to find police, but they could not find ones, so they ride their motorbike and crashed it in front of a market opposite the airport and ran into the market with the money. The robbers chased them, wrestled and took the money. The son ran away, but the mother ran after the robbers and tried to wrestle back the money, but was shot three times in cold-blooded by one of between 6-12 robbers who were waiting outside. The whole robbery was captured on a security camera and the footage was posted on Youtube, Facebook and sent from one person to one person by mobile phones.

At 6:30 am, with a tip from the public who identified one of the robbers through the Youtube footage, police had arrested 31 year-old Lay Vannak, alias India because of his Indian complexion, at his house in Lovea Em district in Kandal province.

Police are still looking for the other robbers who are still on the run.”

^wow, how sad so many ‘men’ were in on it.. thanks, Antiq, for the story behind this brutal murder.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEddty18hC8

It’s not this video that shows a problem with people… but the responses. U.S. forces kill unarmed civilians on a daily basis (Iraq alone estimates are now at one million people…) then refer to it as collateral damage. Yet, I don’t see anyone raising much of a stink about it. Ironic… one instance of senseless murder in a foreign land is outrageous, but when carried out by a bigger gang, with a far more powerful system behind it, it’s a mere footnote on someone’s blog.

if the video isn’t shockin enuf, just look at some of the responses to the vid, ie:

We got ignorant people saying cambodians are heartless and has no feelings. First of all I wouldn’t risk my life to help some random lady either. Second, why is she carrying $30,000?! Third, I’m sad that we have young Cambodians talking *!#@^#bout their own people, which btw offended me.

I don’t know if they’re ignorant for saying that because they’re a lot of Cambodians crime against Cambodians these days. This new generation don’t even care about their own kind. They actually values other races/ethnics groups over their own. Read somewhere that if America had a war with Cambodia for whatever reasons, these fools will side with America. I remember growing up as a Khmer and the older generation, they were always so kind to other Khmer, letting you into their home and treating you like their own kid because we were Khmer. A lot of Khmer here are totally assimilated and I see it with Khmer in Cambodia too, not assimilated to American culture…but something else, something like those thieves…………and uh what the f- is a poor Cambodian doing with $30,000 in cash? Time has changed.

This happens in the States everyday! It’s so common that it doesn’t even make the TV news or newspapers.
