Nahhh, I built mines for about $600 but that doesn’t include a video card..So i spend about $249 for one and mines could run about the lastest a best graphic game..It not pretty much the hardware..you just gotta get good drivers for it to work good..usually ones that come ship by factory give generic driver and cause conflict with hardware that use same drviers. I play cod4 on my pc and console it runnig about the same speed my my pc can do multitask i play game on one screen and work on the other…I must say I got about 4 gigs of memory DDR2 to handle all of that tho..

I would think a $3k PC technology nowadays would surpass the PS3 or Xbox 360, can you source your fact? But anyways if you want games for the best graphics, you have to pay up. In choosing which system I’ll want, I’m more concerned with the game titles than which has the insignificantly better graphics, which is why my first next gen system was the Nintendo Wii, but quite disappointed with the quality of titles I hoped for.

How about you and other Xbox owners, what made you choose a Xbox 360 over the PS3 or Nintendo Wii.

you’d need a high end pc, cost you at least 3gs to play within the caliber of a next-gen console.

Of course you can play the game, but it wouldnt look anything close to gears of wars on a 360. Most games has a certain hardware criteria for you to run the game, but they always try to set it at the lowest. Just because you can play the game, doesnt mean it’s anywhere close to the graphical quality of a 360.

I say as of right now the xbox, but the PS3 is gaining up on it soon with great game being release this year and not to mention great update such as HOME, which I heard is being push back to this spring. All the PS3 is lacking right now are games. I know it does have great exclusive games, but not as much as the xbox. Nor does the PS3 have different title from different genre to chose from, but it look like that will be changing soon. Plus blue-ray is > than HD dvd.

Yeah, that’s what I’ve heard and seen through trailers too. The Xbox versions do look better. I’ve also heard that the PC versions look better than both. Overall though, there’s not that much of a significant difference to complain or care about. I mean it’s not like the Xbox 360 version makes the PS3 version look like the Nintendo Wii graphics. On another note, the Nintendo Wii graphics sometimes look like Gamecube graphics, not cool.

quit comparing consoles to pc. the poster asked about te 360 vs ps3. notice he didn’t mention anything about pc. did you go to derek zoolander’s school for kids that can’t read good? besides have you seen crytek? here’s the minimum, to even see still frames of the game:

OS – Windows XP or Windows Vista **you apple fanboys are sol**
Processor – 2.8GHz or faster (XP); 3.2GHz or faster * (Vista)
Memory – 1GB RAM or 1.5GB RAM (Vista)
Video Card – 256MB **
Hard Drive – 12GB
Sound Card – DirectX 9.0c compatible

believe me, you’re 4 year old gateway will pee when you slip in that crysis dvd.

as far as graphics and games, the 360 owns. although resistance2 looks good, but so does gears2. i dunno, games for the ps3 sux. heavenly sword sux. drakes was alright, but i have more green 360′s cases than white or clear combined. 360 has more games that people play. the numbers prove it:

Xbox 360: hardware to software ratio: 6.59 (hardware total sold = 6.8 million; software total sold = 44.8 million)

PlayStation 3: hardware to software ratio: 3.58 (hardware total sold = 1.9 million; software total sold = 6.8 million)

Wii: hardware to software ratio: 3.44 (hardware total sold = 4.5 million; software total sold = 15.5 million)

there, you have the answers. people with 360′s own have a better selection and buy more games than the ps3 that offers stupid games. the wii play shouldn’t even count as a game, i only bought it because it had the extra controller for 10 bucks, compared to buying the controller alone for 40 bucks, and i bet millions more did the same thing.

You can’t help but talk about the PC in console wars when consoles are technically nothing more than “gaming PC.”

I understand that a PC that is capable of producing better graphics than these new gen. systems are going to be more expensive. But it makes more sense to me if I’m concerned about “graphics” to invest in a PC than a console.

But I’ll rather buy a system for its exclusive titles. I see that with Nintendo and PS3. I don’t see that with the Xbox. Xbox titles that are worthwhile usually end up in the PS3 or/and the PC. Look at Gears of Wars; it’s in PC now, probably the only game I would get an Xbox for.

Besides that, I’ll rather play FPS online such as Call of Duty 4 without paying the extra Xbox fee, which you can do with the PS3.

Overall, a PS3 is the better deal. You can play online without a stupid fee, watch blu-ray or “hd dvd” without buying a stupid add on, and playing exclusive titles that will stay exclusive.

agent, if you only knew. sony laughed at ms for being the only *next gen* (though the wii is hardly next-gen) console without the motion technology and stated that rumble was so yesterday. look what happened. few games incorporate it and if they do, it’s pretty much stupid. and for so last year, they’re making the dualshock 3 now. because of the price, sony said people had to get 2 jobs.

here’s a good quote:

“We have built up a certain brand equity over time since the launch of PlayStation in 1995 and PS2 in 2000 that the first five million are going to buy it [the PS3], whatever it is, even if it didn’t have games.” David Reeves, CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.

It’s just the arrogance of the statement, regardless of truth, that has a growing number of people seriously looking for any reason not to buy another Sony product. A real “love the product/hate the company” attitude is building.

Sony fans are jaded while marginal gamers and potential high-definition customers are taking a wait-and-see approach. Sony’s not listening to its fans because it doesn’t have to. A large number of gamers are resigned to the fact that their PS2 will remain their platform of choice for at least another 18 months. And why not, it’s cheap as hell and the games keep on coming.

Sadly, not enough people will know or care about Sony’s indiscretions to stop good, but not great, PS3 sales. The cattle will take their wallets and kids to PC World when the new Playstation hits because that’s what they have always done. But underneath the sales, all is not well in paradise. The Sony crown has lost its shine and the company’s shoddy treatment of customers and fans, coupled with its unhealthy fascination with copyright protection technology, spells long-term trouble on way.

i could go on and on, but i digress. to bad i’m such a gadget whore, otherwise, i’d do to sony what i’ve done to apple, never give them 1 dime. apple, how stupid is it for morons to buy an ipod shuffle and think it’s the greatest thing? there are cheaper players that are better and can not only shuffle, but have a screen. apple fanboys are stoopid. like i’v always said, if steve-o dropped his pants and let out an glossy white i-turd, you apple fanboys would pay 500 just to lick it up.

hmm. I see where your animosity towards Sony is coming from. This is the first time I’ve heard about that. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, I never liked the apple ipod before, but I’ve jumped the bandwagon. But only because I got it as a gift. I do like it though, but I don’t know what’s so great about it. It looks good?

I have the 360…enjoying it…but it seems the Wii is kicking the 360 and PS3 ass on console sales.

it only seems that way. the ps3 has a long way to go to bridge the gap. here’s the numbers:

wii: 20.13 million
360: 17.7 million
ps3: 10.49 million

don’t forget about the attach rates. the 360 has a better selection of games and it shows. more people buy games for their 360 than those other 2 consoles. the wii and ps3 has a crappy selection of games that they couldn’t pay me to play, let alone me paying them.

and i hear ya ps3 fanboys, yea, sure the ps3 dosn’t charge to play onlne. GOOD DAMN THING. it sux, it’s a crime if sony charged me considering their infrastructure blows. c’mon. are you that cheap?!! it’s 3 bucks a month. 13 months for 40 bux. and it’s more fluid and a better experience than whatever the ps3 on. the wii? it’s basically nonexsistent. oh yea, they’ll have wii PAY and play. yep, PAY as in no more freebies. so there, now you wii fanboys can’t use that free excuse anymore. will it be as good as the live service? probably not.

hahah I read somewhere the ps2 is still consider the best system out there. I forgot where I read it and why. I just think it’s from than ps2 better than ps3 0-o.

most of my friends have xbox 2, all they are playing now is Call of Duty.

one of my friend has PS3, he got some games, but mainly he uses it to watch blu-ray.

I have a wii, just because my brother bought it for zelda and never use it afterward. He still play halo2 with his modded xbox. I like the fact that I can stream movies from the computer to the wii which is hook up to the large tv. My brother like watching his adult movies that way.

i thought zelda was awesome for the wii… I played resident evil in the wii. it’s fun, it’s okay, but withouthte recoil, it’s not the same…

I played dragon quest. I think the game is whack but somethign about swing the wing remote as a sword seems cool. MEtroid prime 3, so far so good. Hard getting use to the controlling.

Dragonball on the wii is fun.

Rabbing rabbits with 4 ppl it super fun.

I think it’s funny when ppl said ps3 gonna have better games. I would wait until the games come out before actaully buying the system.

I also thought it was funny when ps3 came out, ppl said it was gonna be sold out. my friend went looking for a wii, couldn’t get it but they had a bunch of ps3, that why he got the ps3. this was back when the systems just came out.

in my view:
wii – fun party games ( the next gen of board games)
ps3 – cheap blu-ray player than can play games.
xbox2 – modded version of xbox 1 but better specs and more games.

The people I know including me, my brother, and my friends and his friends own PS3. They all play Call of Duty 4 on it all day. I’m not much of a fan of FPS. I got the PS3 just for Tekken and Gran Turismo. Not really looking forward to any other game on the PS3, really. I’ll be happy with that.

I will be getting the PS3 because of Metal Gear Solid 4. Most of Xbox games are FPS and I hate FPS games, always get me dizzy and wanna throw up after 30 minutes of playing it.

I think you did your math wrong. It’s PS3 Online play > Xbox Live.

There’s really no $49.99 a year fee to play online on the PS3. That’s 50 bucks a year I can spend somewhere else. That’s a fact. With a PS3, I can play online whenever I feel like it. I would feel stupid if I paid a fee and end up never playing online because I don’t have the time to play. The PS is pretty reliable to play online, never had a problem.

Here’s some more opinions, less-bias ones.

You got to be kidding with PS3′s online play being better than Xbox Live right? lol why are you posting a askyahoo site for a rebuttal? PS3′s online interface is horrible compared to Xbox Live. Xbox Live interface is really simple and intuitive, because everything is integrated into a dashboard. You could be playing a game, watching a movie, listening to music, and then your friend invites you into a game. All you have to do is press the guide button, accept the invite, and then put the disc in. It’ll bring you straight to his game.
The same goes with voice chats, and messages, they are all integrated into the dash. Yes, you pay 49.99 a year but you get what you paid for.

Xbox live

XBLA (demos for every arcade game, classics, and originals)
XNA
Movie rentals
TV shows
Music Videos
Original xbox games
Community videos
Tournaments
137+ Demos
Bigger online community
In-game invites, messaging, private chat, music, download status.
Automatic XBLA downloads
Check friends status eg. what game there playing, what level there on etc…
Feature rich interface, everythings sorted.
More add-ons for games.
Themes, gamerpics
Download and PLAY demos (no installing)
ETC ETC….
SILVER MEMBERS HAVE ALL THESE FEATURES AND MORE BUT CAN’T PLAY GAMES ONLINE.

PSN

Free online play
Website like store
less content
weak community
no in-game features as standard
online play is less personal
BS friends list features (short bio, language, name, game playing)
No official tournaments (that i no of)
ps1 classics
original games

I’m not saying PSN won’t get better but as of right now. Xbox Live owns it! There’s even talks that PSN might redesign the whole online interface too.

Things might change once PSN add these features though:

1) In-Game Music and Messaging
2) In-Game Browser
3) Download-able movies
4) Home

What you’ve listed is not worth my 50 bucks a year. Actually, some of them are not a ‘good’ thing. Those movie rentals, tv shows, music videos, demos, etc. are all of them free or it’ll cost you more money to buy those features? Microsoft is just milking your money. I’ll rather watch a TV show on my TV. All I have to do is click input or video on my remote to change it from game to television. I can youtube with my laptop etc already so no point. Also, some things you’ve listed on Xbox Live do also exist in the PS3 that you forgot to list, such as more add-on to the games.

I really don’t see what you see. If you want to PAY for more things you have to PAY FOR later, then good for you. I just want to go online and play. Is there a feature like that on the Xbox 360?

I gave you that link on yahoo answer to show you more unbiased point of views. You might not notice it but you do have a bias point of view, it makes you sound less credible.

There’s really no $49.99 a year fee to play online on the PS3. That’s 50 bucks I can spend somewhere else. That’s a fact. I can play online whenever I feel like it. I would feel stupid if I paid a fee and end up never playing online because I don’t have the time to play.

Me? Bias? lol oh man I am far from a lemming and a cow. I’m a gamer and I play every game. Xbox Live has the most to offer gamers. Far greater numbers of players on Live and far way better interface. I haven’t bashed the PS3 in any way. I actually own a PS3 and judging from what I’ve played. Hands down Xbox Live is the better online experience and what you’ve posted are bias answers. I can easily find “opinions” on a gaming forum and prove to you how bad PSN sucks. Yes, you pay 49.99 a year but if you can’t afford, then you can happily go to PSN, but for the millions of gamers who are on it, they are enjoying it more than any online gaming experience (minus MMORPGs). You play a multiplatform game like Rainbow 6 or Call of Duty and you can easily tell that there are far more number of gamers on Xbox Live than PSN. Thats just the truth.

PSN

Free online play

I’m not saying PSN won’t get better but as of right now. Xbox Live owns it! There’s even talks that PSN might redesign the whole online interface too.

Well, owning both systems do not make your opinions less bias. It’s apparent you have a love for the Xbox Live. I gave you pretty much an unbiased source. Yahoo answers just have random people answering questions. Most gaming sites depending on which gaming platform they favor will give you bias opinions.

I never tried Xbox Live, but from what you’ve listed. I rather spend my 50 bucks on sandals. lol. I just don’t see the allure of it. Maybe you have to be an Xbox fanboy because I notice only Xbox fanboy only hardcore ones at least try to justify the 50 dollar a year fee. Hopefully, Sony can come through with their improvements and still stay free. They need to force Microsoft from ripping you guys off with this service.

There’s no reason to for me to try Xbox Live. I’m all about opportunity cost. Not worth my 50 bucks.

Gaming sites are credible when you want technical specs but not unbiased when you ask for opinions. Should I check Xbox 360 gaming source sites for Xbox Live opinions too? You’ll have those fanboys in there that will sway it one way or another. Just KC alone, I notice a lot of Xbox fanboys.

Yahoo answers might not be ‘credible’ because they are not ‘experts’ but they are unbiased (as in no fanboys you will find in gaming site), making them hold credibility with their opinions. Besides you don’t need a degree in the gaming industry to give your opinion whether or not Xbox Live is worth it.

haha this threads are going crazy. Imma jump in and say

Xbox2 and PS3 , if you spend 300+ bucks on a system, plus the games, plus extra controller, you guys are dotards.

When the ‘new’ systems came out, I spent 50 bucks on a wiimote.

I bring my wiimote to my friend’s house. if my battery drain I ask them for some. my brother got a battery charger.

I play GH and Rockband at my friend’s house. I watch blu-ray stuff at my friends house.

And when I wanna play game, I hope on to my computer and play a free online MMORPG. Why pay to play online? Why pay for a game system? why pay for a ‘dvd’ system’? I can do everything on my 4 year old computer.

it just cost me electricity and internet. I spend money on games or gaming accessories. wait I bought a controller. other than that, I’m all good.

frankly, it doesn’t matter what you guys think. it’s all about sales figure and the number should just shut both of you up.

other than that you are just comparing your views on what you think is better. no matter what you said, what you guys think is better doesn’t mean it is better.

IMO, there was a dude that kill his kid because that baby knocked over the xbox2. Now I don’t know if ps3 cause any death but if a game console that give you the RROD can cause a man to kill his own kid, that console must be the ultimate game console.

hahahah this is r-tarded.

Are you saying your friends who you go to and play their Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, and PS3, dotards as well? I hope they know that.

For me, I will spend the money on something if it’s worth it. If the Xbox Live gave me free downloadable music or tv shows for the $50 fee, then I would say it’s worth it. All it adds is meaningless features I can live without.

And yes, thank you for pointing out the obvious that what we are stating are opinions and not facts.

IF you wanna talk about sales figures then Xbox 360 hands down in terms of hardware sales, software sales and number of players online, so maybe you got to shut up?

This thread is about Xbox360 vs. PS3 and there is nothing dotarded about spending that much money on a system.

Thats very cool that you go to your friend’s house and play their games and there is a monthly fee to play MMORPG online on certains games like World of Warcraft and etc. Do you want a cookie or something to be able to play everything on your 4 year old computer? This thread again is about Xbox360 vs. PS3 and Agent and I can debate this all we want.

That guy must be a real dumbass to kill his own kid over the RROD and you must be real “smart” to think that the xbox is the cause of this.

You should just buy a Nintendo Wii if you like it so much. My Nintendo Wii has been sitting in my closet, and I have two of them. I am waiting for them to announce a title that’s worthwhile besides SSB, but not yet, thinking about ebaying, but ebay buyers are cheap ass mofo.

No need. My brother doesn’t use his wii, he still play xbox 1. He only bought it for Zelda. So use his wii. my other brother got gamefly, so I”m just renting game for it.

I have more fun with the wii at my friends house anyway. They don’t even use their wii until a bunch of friends come over anyway.

I also got the wii setup with orb on the desktop so I can watch download movies on the bigger screen. It’s nice. after my brother saw that, he wanted the wii back but realize he already got a modded xbox with movies stored in the hd 0-o.

Why you have two of them?

Planned to give it as a gift. You know how hard it is to get a Nintendo Wii because Nintendo intentionally makes a shortage amount.

I have the Xbox 1 also, and got all the raving reviewed games. They were disappointing.

edit: Oh, I use blu-ray on the big screen hdtv. Way better than any d/l movie. I would never pay for downloaded movie. And with downloaded movies, I just connect my laptop or/and desktop to the TV. I haven’t heard of orb before sounds interesting. There might be a use for my Nintendo Wii, thanks for the info.

Here’s a recent sales figure for January 2008:

* Wii – 274,000
* PlayStation 3 – 269,000
* PlayStation 2 – 264,000
* Nintendo DS – 251,000
* PlayStation Portable – 230,000
* Xbox 360 – 230,000

http://kotaku.com/356776/playstation-3-outsells-xbox-360-ds-in-january

Sony and Nintendo are doing pretty well. Even the PS2 is selling better than the Xbox 360 (yes, I know about the so-called Xbox 360 shortage. Nintendo Wii had shortage period, but still did well). Wonder how the Xbox original one is doing? Can’t wait to see February’s figures.

ha-ha-ha-ha. that’s cute agent. show only the numbers when the ps3 tops the 360 in terms of sales. remember how sony blasted microsoft for launching the 360 with 2 skus? now how stupid does sony look now? how man sku’s have the introduced and cancelled?!! how sony blasted the 360 for using the rumble and how it was old technology? if so, then explain why they are bringing the dualshock3 to us?!! you sony ps3 fanboys are stoopid for falling for the stupid lies.

oh, and here are the REAL sales figures by the folks at NPD:

PlayStation 2 – 41,120,000
Game Boy Advance – 36,240,000
Nintendo DS – 17,650,000
PSP – 10,470,000
Xbox 360 – 9,150,000
Wii – 7,380,000
PlayStation 3 – 3,250,000

yes, that’s right. OVERALL consoles sales, and the ps3 is going to need more than january’s sales figure to catch up. oh, and you left out one of the true statistics of how well a console is doing: THE ATTACH RATES. more people buy games and accessories for the 360 then ps3 or wii owners do for their respective consoles.

anyway, long live the 360. long live the wii. long live the ps3. long live gaming. i’m glad microsoft filled in the void after my beloved sega left.

The figures you gave is just American figures. But if you want to see the REAL overall figures, here they are:

http://nexgenwars.com/

The January figures suppose to tell you how much better the PS3 is doing the beginning of this year than the Xbox 360. The PS3 still needs to catch up, but the leader is not the Xbox 360 but rather the Nintendo Wii.

But you know what’s funny about the Xbox 360, they’re not selling as well outside of America. For example, only 548k Xbox 360 in Japan vs 1.67 million PS3 in Japan. Why is that? I thought they had better games? I would think the Japanese customers would know a thing or two about ‘better’ games.

I would like to know the figures in Europe on the Xbox though, but don’t have it. I’m pretty sure it’s not as great as it is in America since Americans shares is more than half for the Xbox 360 (9.15M out of 18M worldwide). It seems like it’s an American thing to buy Xbox 360… what because it’s “made” by Microsoft, an American company? I heard they wanted to manufacture HD-DVD in China. I wonder if that’s the reason why the Xbox 360 gives RROD because they were probably cheaply made by the cheap companies in other countries?

ps 2 rocks.

I have a lot of games for ps1 and ps2… hopefully ps3 can play ps1/2 games…

I was playing on my friend’s ps3. playing assisin creed. I know they got it for the xbox2 also. but I like how I can create different profile on the console.

between xbox2 and ps3, when I decide to buy a system. I’ll go with ps3 mainly for the blu ray and because xbox2 crashes. I will NOT pay for somethign that has a high rate of failure. unless it was something I got from the dollar store

lol oh wow now we got to include the wii in this xbox360 vs. ps3 thread. lets not get off topic here! we’re simply comparing the xbox 360 to the ps3 and in terms of hardware sales and software sales xbox360 owns ps3. wow sony fanboys are so desperate lol. who cares about japan? we live here in the states. sony fanboys always bring up the japan card.

Apparently, your beloved Microsoft does. They are trying though but the Japanese know better. People who play games developed by Japanese developers also care. Unless you only play FPS and RPG made by American? The Japanese market is a big part of this console war. I think part of the reason why the Xbox original isn’t doing as well as the PS2 is because the Xbox original never really did well globally, especially in Japan. It lacked the Japanese developers game. Mostly crappy FPS games and just ninja gaiden? lol.

Don’t worry about PS3 software sales; they haven’t gotten started yet. What titles are Xbox 360 fan boys like you looking forward to? The next Blu-Ray add-on. haha.

Soeun_Lang, I hope you like this news:

PS3 Sold Faster Than Xbox 360 In Same Period
02/20/2008
In a recent report released by VG Chartz, it was found that the Playstation 3 sold better in its first 14 months than the Xbox 360 did during the same period. According to VG Chartz, the Xbox 360 took four months longer to hit the 10 million units sold mark in its cycle than the PS3, which hit 10 million units worldwide in January. The numbers also show that the PS3 has been selling more consistently
worldwide, rather than the Xbox 360′s predominate strength in the North American market. February is turning out to be a whole host of good announcements for the PS3!

http://kotaku.com/358655/ps3-sold-faster-than-xbox-360-in-same-period

who care about Japan huh? You mean who cares about America if you’re talking about the Xbox 360 because it also needs to do better worldwide. As you can see, it’s worldwide sales that really count. Microsoft’s lost in HD format war is definitely going to hurt them even more.
