Chùa Anh Tes Kô Sây Kom Pong Ta Anh Chrôi Tưm Thmây
Chùa Anh Tes Kô Sây Kom Pong Ta Anh Chrôi Tưm Thmây is a Khmer Wat in Đại Tâm commune, Mỹ Xuyên district, Sóc Trăng, Vietnam.[1]
History
Đại đức (Venerable) Thạch Srỉnh was the first abbot of the Wat and called on local people to build it.[1] The old main hall had badly deteriorated, and Thượng tọa (Venerable) Lý Sà Rên and the Wat's management board initiated the new main hall and began its construction in May 2019.[1] It was completed in January 2025 at a total cost of 9.782 billion Vietnamese dong.[1]
The new main hall has a lower base 35 m (115 ft) long and 25 m (82 ft) wide, an upper base 18 m (59 ft) long and 13 m (43 ft) wide, a height of 32 m (105 ft) and 100 columns, in a distinctive architecture with many unique decorative patterns that strongly reflects Khmer Theravada Buddhist architecture.[1]
Religious life
On the morning of February 14, 2025, the Wat held the ceremony Lễ kiết giới sây ma and a ribbon-cutting to inaugurate its new main hall.[1] Those attending and offering congratulations included Hòa thượng (Most Venerable) Tăng Nô, abbot of Chùa Kh'leang, provincial officials, representatives of the leadership of the provincial and district departments and agencies, religious dignitaries from inside and outside the province, benefactors and Buddhist followers from near and far.[1] Nguyễn Minh Trí, standing vice chairman of the Mỹ Xuyên district People's Committee, congratulated the Wat and praised what its management board, dignitaries, abbot, monastics and Buddhist followers had accomplished.[1] Leaders of the province, district and departments and agencies, and religious dignitaries from inside and outside the province, gave many gifts and flower baskets to congratulate the Wat, and after the ribbon cutting the delegates toured the new main hall.[1]
