Wat

Chùa Cosdon is a Khmer Theravada Buddhist Wat in Vĩnh Phước commune, Cà Mau province, Vietnam, founded in 1903.[1][2]

History

The Wat was founded on February 5, 1903, on 50,000 m2 (12 acres) of land. Until the 2025 provincial merger it stood in Vĩnh Phú Tây commune, Phước Long district, Bạc Liêu province. Nine abbots led it before Đại đức (Venerable) Thạch Dương Trung, who was installed as its tenth abbot on February 3, 2023.[2]

Religious life

On November 1 and 2, 2025, the Wat held its Kathina robe offering, sponsored that year by seven families from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Hải Phòng. Lay followers walked in procession to the Wat with flowers, robes and the four requisites, an evening lamp offering followed, and the next morning the robes were carried around the main hall and offered to the monks.[1] On April 14, 2026, a provincial delegation led by a vice chair of the provincial people's committee brought Khmer New Year (Chol Chnam Thmey) gifts to the monks and the Wat committee.[3]
