Wat

Chùa Kỳ Son is a Khmer Theravada Buddhist Wat in Kỳ Son hamlet, Ngãi Tứ commune, Vĩnh Long province, Vietnam.[1] It was formerly in Loan Mỹ commune, in Tam Bình district.[2]

History

The Wat is one of 13 Khmer Theravada Wats of Vĩnh Long province as it was before the 2025 merger, and one of six that the provincial people's committee ranked as provincial historical and cultural relics. Its gate carries Khmer architectural emblems in relief.[3]

Religious life

On the morning of April 14, 2025, a delegation of the Tam Bình district Buddhist Sangha visited the monks and lay followers of the Wat for Khmer New Year (Chol Chnam Thmey). Sư Thạch Si Sa Vách, deputy abbot of the Wat, answered for its monks. The monks and lay followers had decorated the Wat and prepared traditional activities for Khmer families returning home for the New Year.[2]

For Khmer New Year in April 2026, leaders of Ngãi Tứ commune visited the Wat, and the commune's Fatherland Front gave gifts to 200 poor and near-poor households at the Wat and at Chùa Cũ in Đại Thọ hamlet.[1]
