Wat

Chùa Khlang Ong is a Khmer Theravada Buddhist Wat in Châu Thành, An Giang province, Vietnam.[1][2]

History

Until the 2025 reorganization the Wat stood in Minh Lương town, Châu Thành district, Kiên Giang province.[1] Local people recall that around 1959 the former Kiên Giang province had only four noted ngo racing boats, one of them the Wat's.[3]

Religious life

On June 15, 2025, the provincial Patriotic Monks' Solidarity Association held a full ordination at the Wat for 27 novices from six districts of the former Kiên Giang province. The abbot, Hòa thượng (Most Venerable) Danh Lân, was preceptor, with 21 senior monks as the ordaining assembly.[1] On April 7, 2026, provincial leaders brought Khmer New Year (Chol Chnam Thmey) gifts, which the abbot received.[2]
