Wat

Chùa Kompong Đôn is a Khmer Theravada Buddhist Wat in Tập Ngãi commune, Vĩnh Long province, Vietnam.[1] Before the 2025 merger it was in Hiếu Tử commune, Tiểu Cần district, Trà Vinh province.[2]

Religious life

As of 2025, the abbot was Thượng tọa (Venerable) Kim Mạnh. Leaders of the provincial Fatherland Front visited him at the Wat for Khmer New Year (Chol Chnam Thmey) on April 10, 2025.[2] On the morning of October 20, 2025, the Wat held the ceremony that places the spire on the roof of its new main hall, then under construction. Monks chanted, sprinkled blessed water and tied sacred thread around the spire and other sacred elements. Hòa thượng (Most Venerable) Thạch Sok Xane, head of the provincial board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, presided. He praised the abbot and lay followers for finishing the main structure, and said the spire is the most important part of a Khmer Theravada main hall.[1] A November 2025 report names Kim Mạnh as abbot of the Wat as "chùa Ô Đùng" and places it in Tiểu Cần commune.[3]
