Chùa Prêk Ta Kuôl (Chùa Prêk Ta Cuôl) is a Khmer Theravada Buddhist Wat in Gia Hòa commune, Cần Thơ, Vietnam.[1]

History

The present abbot entered the Wat as a novice in 1972 and became abbot in 2006, succeeding the previous abbot, a senior preceptor. For more than 20 years before that he also taught at a primary school, and a simple classroom in the Wat's grounds served generations of pupils. As abbot he built a sala (meeting hall) and a flagpole, repaired the main hall and paved the grounds. He gave 1,000 m² (10,800 sq ft) of land, and encouraged lay followers to give more, so that the authorities could build a school nearby.[1]

Religious life

As of October 2025, the Wat taught Khmer script to children every summer and, since 2019, had run Pali classes attended by monks from many Wats. Its ngo crew raced every year at the Ok Om Bok festival, and it was one of the few Wats in Cần Thơ that still kept a cà hâu boat.[1] In 2025 it spent more than 500 million đồng on a new dugout ngo.[2] On the evening of November 3, 2025, its cà hâu was floated on the Maspéro river at the opening of the festival's boat display.[3]
