Description
Melanie Lim discusses witnessing the Khmer Rouge tie up families, including children, and kill soldiers, teachers, government workers and students in 1977. She describes the death penalty for stealing food and a policy in which everything was zero tolerance, recounting how a boy was beaten to death for taking rice. She also discusses the hopelessness she experienced during three years and eight months under the Khmer Rouge, especially after her parents and brothers were taken away and killed.
