Kbal Chay
Kbal Chay (ក្បាលឆាយ), also spelled Kbal Chhay, is a waterfall on the Prek Toek Sap River near Sihanoukville (ក្រុងព្រះសីហនុ).[1][2] During a shortage in June 2015, water pumped from the falls supplied most of the city.[2]

River gauge
On February 16, 2001, the Department of Water Resources and Meteorology in Sihanoukville set up rain and water-level gauges on the Prek Toek Sap, some 200 meters above the falls.[1] The gauging station drains a catchment of 52.5 square kilometers.[1]
In 2001 the flow there fell as low as 0.11 cubic meters a second on February 17 and reached a daily mean of 69.6 cubic meters a second on August 17.[1] Around Sihanoukville, which receives about 3,400 mm of rain a year, the rivers carry almost no water in the dry season.[1]
Water supply
In June 2015 a state-owned reservoir dried up, and Preah Sihanouk's main city ran short of water.[2] A private firm, Anco Water Supply, ran diesel generators at Kbal Chhay to pump water to the city, and at the end of the month a waterfall was providing most of Sihanoukville's supply.[2] The firm's manager said it could not pay for enough diesel to keep up, until new pipes and a new generator raised its pumping. By the governor's account, 95 percent of the city's homes and businesses then had running water again.[2]
