History

The Cooperation Committee for Cambodia's directory dates Kdei Karuna's work in Cambodia to 2005. It began as a branch of the International Center for Conciliation, based in Boston. The directory dates the start of its projects to 2007 and its registration as a Cambodian non-governmental organization to 2010.[1] Kdei Karuna's own history also gives 2005 as its beginning and 2010 as its independent registration.[2]

Work

Kdei Karuna describes its work as supporting survivors of the Khmer Rouge regime, bringing generations into dialogue and addressing gender justice and social cohesion.[2] Its undated About page says it works with survivors, young people, educators and community leaders across 22 provinces, with a network of local facilitators.[2]

The directory lists a Justice & History Outreach program with work in 15 villages.[1] The directory describes the International Center for Conciliation's approach as reflective dialogue intended to encourage empathy and understanding.[1] For Justice & History Outreach, it says villages were selected to help explain how regional, ethnic and class identities affected individual experiences in the Khmer Rouge period.[1]

Location

The directory places the organization in Phnom Penh and lists Dangkao district and Tonle Basak commune.[1]
