Keo Neighborhood Market is a grocery store in North Long Beach, California. Brothers Ben and Patrick Keo, who came to the United States from Cambodia, bought it in 2016.[1]

History

The brothers bought the market on South Street in May 2016. Ben Keo told the Long Beach Business Journal that owning a market had long been their father's dream, since the family had worked in agriculture in Cambodia and selling produce was what he had grown up doing. The brothers saw the purchase as a way to start a family business and make that dream come true.[1]

The market

The store focuses on Southeast Asian foods and is aimed mainly at the Asian community, though it carries a range of other goods. In 2017 it sold organic vegetables bought from local Cambodian home gardeners with more than they could use, which Ben Keo described as a way of helping the community as well as stocking the shelves.[1]
