Khmer Student Association (KSA), formerly the Berkeley Cambodian Students Association (BCSA), is a student organization at the University of California, Berkeley.[1]
History
The association was founded "to unite and support people who share an interest in Cambodia and Southeast Asian culture". It has since placed greater emphasis on "the awareness and retention of Khmer and Khmer-American experiences and identity". Its campus listing records the change of name from Berkeley Cambodian Students Association on October 7, 2024.[1]
Programs and services
KSA aims to "reclaim Khmer cultural practices, create socially aware individuals, inspire leadership and community awareness, while bridging the older and newer generations together", and to "eliminate the invisibility of the Khmer and Khmer-American community".[1]
- Interpreting: KSA volunteers interpreted at a UC Berkeley Kidney Disease Screening and Awareness Program screening at the Center for Empowering Refugees and Immigrants in Oakland in fall 2024.[2]
- Funding: the Associated Students of the University of California allocated $760 to KSA for fiscal year 2025-26.[3]
