Description
Roeun Chea, aged fifty at the time of the interview, is an art and mathematics intervention teacher at Springfield Public School. Born in Cambodia, he was forced into a concentration camp under the Khmer Rouge, where he remained for three years, and then spent another three years in a refugee camp before resettling with a foster family in western Massachusetts. He describes continuing to struggle with his traumas and with his Cambodian identity. (Digital Commonwealth item record)
