Description
These resources are primarily based on the 1977 and 1997 editions of the Cambodian-English Dictionary and also return entries from the Chuon Nath Khmer Dictionary. The dictionaries contain modern, literary, poetic, written, and spoken Cambodian words and expressions, with etymological references, usage tagging, and more than two thousand example sentences in the 1997 edition. Learning context
Khmer orthography searches return entries from the Chuon Nath Khmer Dictionary, and IPA searches can find words by sound using approximation within groups of consonants and vowels with similar sounds. The site provides features for teachers and students on using the dictionary, corpus, and bitext corpus tools. (SEAlang Library)
Requirements and access
The site requires a Khmer Unicode font, available through the KhmerOS Project. IPA input and display prefers Charis SIL or Doulos SIL for proper rendering; IPA searches for aspirated letters cʰ, kʰ, pʰ, and tʰ must use the raised “h”. (SEAlang Library)
