វត្តសុវណ្ណគិរីសាគរ

Wat Changhaon (វត្តសុវណ្ណគិរីសាគរ, Wat Sovann Kiri Sakor) is a Buddhist Wat in Changhaon village, Prek Tnaot, in the city of Bokor, Kampot, Cambodia.[1][2]

History

In March 2025, the provincial governor, Mao Thonin, said that building at the Wat had been under way for about 33 years.[1][2] A new main hall, 12 m by 21 m (39 by 69 ft), was built with funds from Oknha Try Pheap and his wife, Kean Sreynang. Its cost is given as about $480,000[1] and, for the hall with the other new buildings, as more than $220,000.[2]

Religious life

On March 26, 2025, the sima (the consecrated boundary stones) of the new hall was laid and the new buildings were dedicated, with Samdech Men Sam An presiding. About 2,000 people attended, including monks, senators, members of parliament, officials and citizens.[1][2]

On the morning of August 13, 2026, during Vassa (ព្រះវស្សា, Preah Vassa), the three-month rains retreat, the Kampot branch of the Cambodian Women's Association for Peace and Development and the provincial governor, Mao Thonin, brought Vassa candles and offerings to the monks keeping the retreat at the Wat.[3]
