Wat

Wat Ek Rangsey (វត្តឯករង្សី) is a Buddhist Wat in Prek Norint village and commune, Ek Phnom district, Battambang province, Cambodia.[1]

History

The well-known Battambang racing boat "Norint Rangsey Pichey Chetbot" (នរិន្ទរង្សី ពិជ័យចិត្របុត្រ) is linked to the Wat. On September 2, 2025, the abbot announced that the boat would not race that year, because several of its crew were serving with the armed forces at the border.[2]

Religious life

As of September 2025, the abbot was Lok Ov Cham Chet.[2] On September 11, 2025, the fourth day of the Kan Ben season, the provincial governor Sok Lou and officials of the provincial departments joined the villagers whose turn it was. They brought food and money to the monks who had spent the rains retreat at the Wat. The governor thanked the Wat committee, its achar (lay ritual leaders) and the lay followers.[1]
