Wat

Wat Khemararangsi is a Khmer Buddhist Wat on Ross Smith Crescent in Scullin, Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia.[1][2]

History

The Wat was earlier at 3 Arkell Place in Charnwood, Canberra.[3] Its association, the Khemararangsi Buddhist Temple of the ACT, has held an Australian Business Number since 2007 and has been a registered charity since 2016.[4]

Religious life

The Wat follows the Theravada tradition.[2] As of 2026, monks lived at the Wat and received visitors seeking counseling or wishing to learn about Buddhism, Buddhist practice and Cambodian culture. The association also taught meditation, the Khmer language and traditional Khmer dance.[1] Breathing meditation sessions are held on Sundays from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.[5]

On July 25, 2026, the Wat held its ceremony for the start of the rains retreat together with a money flower tree offering. The 2026 Kan Ben, the 14 days of offerings that lead up to Pchum Ben, began at the Wat on September 27, 2026.[5]
