Wat Kok Chak
វត្តប្រាសាទគោកចក
Wat Kok Chak (វត្តប្រាសាទគោកចក, Wat Prasat Kok Chak) is a Buddhist Wat in Kok Chak commune, Siem Reap, Cambodia.[1] It is one of the 35 Wats inside the protected zones of the Angkor area, under the APSARA National Authority.[2]
Religious life
As of 2025 and 2026, the abbot was Preah Kru Vichitravongsa Hem Kimsan.[1][3]
During the fighting on the border with Thailand in 2025, the Wat sheltered displaced families. In December 2025 it housed 220 families from Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear and Banteay Meanchey provinces. Teachers came to the Wat to teach children in grades one to six, and older pupils went to a high school in town. On December 29, 2025, the abbot led the families, with local officials, in planting vegetables in the grounds to feed themselves.[4] Earlier, on August 10, 2025, a humanitarian group from Singapore gave food and supplies through the abbot to 100 poor, elderly and displaced families at a ceremony in the Wat.[1]
On Visak Bochea, May 1, 2026, the Wat committee and the Kok Chak commune office led a procession of more than 1,000 monks, lay precept-keepers, officials, teachers and students through the town.[5] On October 1, 2026, the Siem Reap provincial administration kept its fifth day of kan ben, the offerings to monks that lead up to Pchum Ben, at Wat Kok Chak.[3]
