Wat
Wat Marseille
Wat Marseille, also known as Vatt Khmer Marseille, is a Cambodian Buddhist pagoda on chemin de la Bigotte in Marseille, France.[1]
History
Earlier directories gave its telephone number as 04.91.96.06.09 and its website as www.khmerbuddhism.org.[2][3]
Community
A small community of three monks lives permanently at the Wat, in buildings beside a small pagoda in the garden of a house.[4]
On January 14, 2023, Les amis de Dialogue RCF led an interfaith visit to two Buddhist communities in Marseille, announced by the Diocese of Marseille. The group began at the Vietnamese pagoda Chua Truc Lam and came to the Cambodian pagoda for the second visit at 2:30 p.m. Agnès Gros, a specialist in Asian civilizations and religions, guided the visits.[1] The Wat is a separate community from the Vietnamese pagoda Chua Truc Lam on boulevard de la Forbine in the 11th arrondissement and from the Phap Hoa pagoda on chemin de la Pagode, also in the 15th arrondissement.[1][5]
