Wat Prasat Kouk Beng
វត្តប្រាសាទគោកបេង
Wat Prasat Kouk Beng (វត្តប្រាសាទគោកបេង, Wat Prasat Kouk Beng) is a Buddhist Wat in Kouk Beng village, Kampong Pranak, Preah Vihear town.[1]
History
In April 2025, the Wat was building a new vihara with 500 wooden pillars. The provincial governor inspected the work on April 25, 2025, and praised the abbot for directing it.[1]
Religious life
As of August 2025, the Wat's abbot, the Venerable Long Somuni, was the chief monk of Preah Vihear province.[2]
On August 15, 2025, he led 109 monks and the Wat's lay followers in a merit-making rite.[2] On January 24, 2026, the Wat held an alms round for 209 monks and a further rite for the soldiers.[3]
On August 13, 2026, a delegation brought Vassa candles, gifts and offerings to the monks keeping the rains retreat at the Wat, also called Wat Chey Pruks.[4] During Pchum Ben, the 15-day festival for ancestors, lay people hold Kan Ben (កាន់បិណ្ឌ, Kan Ben), daily turns of offerings to the monks. The same delegation joined the fifth day of Kan Ben at the Wat on October 1, 2026.[5]
