Religious life
During Pchum Ben, the 15-day festival for ancestors, lay people hold Kan Ben (កាន់បិណ្ឌ, Kan Ben), daily turns of offerings to the monks. On September 21, 2025, the 14th day, Cheam Yeap, then acting President of the National Assembly, led relatives and lay followers in chanting, blessing recitations and a sermon at the Wat, in the presence of the abbot and senior monks.[1] He returned on October 4, 2026 for the eighth day, when the participants joined the alms round and the bangskol (a rite in which monks chant for the dead) and offered funds for building work, gifts for the abbot and the monks, and support for the lay nuns and lay elders.[2]
