Wat Prek Ta Ten
វត្តសុវណ្ណវារី
Wat Prek Ta Ten (វត្តសុវណ្ណវារី, Wat Sovannvari) is a Buddhist Wat in Prek Ta Ten commune, Ponhea Leu district, Kandal, Cambodia.[1]
Religious life
The abbot, Samdech Preah Oudom Muni Chea Sam Ang, is the chief monk of Kandal province.[1] He is also a member of the Supreme Council of Buddhism in Cambodia and a deputy director-general of national Buddhist education.[2] On April 6, 2025, and again on March 22, 2026, provincial leaders and lay followers held ceremonies at the Wat to wish him long life and to pour scented water over him; the 2026 ceremony was presided over by Samdech Doung Phang and attended by the minister of cults and religion.[1][3]
On May 6, 2026, the provincial monks' school held a ceremony at the Wat to make known the decisions of the 33rd national congress of monk officials and to open the 2026 to 2027 year of Buddhist schooling.[4] On July 25, 2026, Khuon Sudary, president of the National Assembly, offered Vassa candles, food and money to the Wat's monks and to the monks of 11 other Kandal Wats at a ceremony held there, with chanting by the monks.[2]
