Wat Priya Mongkolaram

វត្តប្រិយ៍មង្គលារាម

Wat Priya Mongkolaram (វត្តប្រិយ៍មង្គលារាម) is a Buddhist Wat in Samraong city, Oddar Meanchey province, Cambodia.[1]

History

The Wat is also known as Wat Bansay Reak (វត្តបន្សាយរាក់) and is in Bansay Reak village (ភូមិបន្សាយរាក់) and sangkat (សង្កាត់). It was built from 2006 on 4.17 hectares (10.3 acres) of land by village and sangkat authorities together with lay followers, who built a sala bun (សាលាបុណ្យ) of wood with a thatched roof. The Wat takes its name from the first landowner, Ta Priya (តាប្រិយ), who lived in Bansay Reak village.[1]

Works at the Wat were built from 2015 to December 30, 2024. They include a dining hall (សាលាឆាន់), three wooden kuti (កុដិ, monks' residences), five stone kuti, eight toilet buildings with 13 rooms, two ponds, a kitchen and a stone vihara (ព្រះវិហារ) of 12 by 24 meters (39 by 79 feet).[1]

Religious life

Monks reside at the Wat to study pariyatti (បរិយត្តិធម៌, scriptural study) and patipatti (បតិបត្តិ, practice).[1] On March 9, 2025, Mean Chanyada (មាន ចាន់យ៉ាដា), governor of Oddar Meanchey province, took part in the inauguration of these works and the laying of the vihara's sima (បញ្ចុះសីមា).[1]
