Wat

Wat Ratanak Pratib, also spelled Wat Rattanak Pratip, is a Khmer Buddhist Wat on Hazeldean Road in Stittsville, in the west of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.[1]

History

The Wat began in 1985 as the Ottawa-Hull Cambodian Buddhist Association, which gained charitable status in 1987. As of 2005 it occupied a house outside the city, with a resident monk.[1] The association has been registered at 5883 Hazeldean Road since at least 2009.[2]

Religious life

As of 2005, lay members elected in rotation led the association and invited monks for ritual services. The community gathered twice a month, at the new moon and the full moon, and on Buddhist holidays. The Wat had no membership dues and was supported by donations from the Cambodian community.[1]
