Wat

Wat Svay Popae (វត្តស្វាយពពែ, Wat Svay Popae) is a Buddhist Wat in Tonle Bassac, Chamkarmon, Phnom Penh, home to Preah Sihamoniraja Buddhist University.[1]

History

In 2019 Samdech Bour Kry, Supreme Patriarch of the Dhammayuttika order, was listed as the Wat's abbot, though he lived at Wat Botum.[2] Preah Sihamoniraja Buddhist University began at the Wat in 2004 with a single building. By 2026 it had a nine-story teaching building, a five-story dormitory and a health post.[3]

Religious life

On May 8, 2025, Samdech Bour Kry led the chanting that consecrated the university's new five-story Techo Santepheap dormitory and other buildings at the Wat.[1] On October 3, 2026, during Pchum Ben, he gave gifts to 300 staff and students living in the dormitory in the Wat grounds.[3]
