Description
Apsara in New York is a poetry collection that follows a Khmer family from displacement during the aftermath of the Khmer Rouge regime to life in the Bronx, with later returns to Phnom Penh and other Cambodian locations. Moving among childhood, adulthood, parenthood, and multiple generations, the poems explore immigration, family relationships, cultural inheritance, music, war, genocide, grief, and the formation of identity between Cambodia and the United States.
