Wat

Chùa Khna Rộn (Chùa Sirisobhan Khna Rộn, or Chùa Chệt Sỉa) is a Khmer Theravada Buddhist Wat in Ninh Quới commune, Cà Mau province, Vietnam.[1][2][3]

History

The Wat was built in 1946 on land of Ngô Phên and Thạch Thị Tâm, in what was Ninh Quới A commune, Hồng Dân district, Bạc Liêu province until 2025. Bombing destroyed it completely in 1969. Its old main hall, 7 m by 13 m (23 by 43 ft), had its sima (consecrated boundary) established in 2000. From 2015 the abbot, Đại đức (Venerable) Danh Thi, built a new sala (preaching hall) 22 m (72 ft) long and 31 m (102 ft) high, completed in 2020 for about 3.7 billion đồng from monks and lay followers in Vietnam and abroad. It was inaugurated on March 19, 2023, the day after the foundation stone was laid for a new main hall in Khmer style.[3]

Religious life

The Wat's lay followers joined the Kathina robe offering at Chùa Đìa Muồng in October 2025.[4] On April 14, 2026, a provincial delegation led by a vice chair of the provincial people's committee brought Khmer New Year (Chol Chnam Thmey) gifts to the Wat.[2]
