Janet Gardner is a documentary director and producer whose films include Dancing Through Death, about Cambodian classical dance.
Janet Gardner is a documentary director and producer who works through the Gardner Documentary Group, based in New York City and Princeton, New Jersey (Gardner Documentary Group). She produced, directed and wrote Dancing Through Death: The Monkey, Magic & Madness of Cambodia, which follows the survival and transmission of Cambodian classical dance through the story of dancer Thavro Phim (Gardner Documentary Group). Her other Southeast Asia films include Lost Child: Sayon's Journey, about a former Khmer Rouge child soldier, and a trilogy of documentaries told from Vietnamese perspectives (Gardner Documentary Group). She worked earlier as a broadcast field producer and print journalist covering post-war Vietnam for American newspapers (University at Buffalo Reporter).
