Canadian novelist whose novel The Disappeared is set in Cambodia after the Khmer Rouge period.
Kim Echlin is a Canadian novelist, translator, editor and teacher who lives in Toronto and teaches creative writing at the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies. Her novels include Elephant Winter, Dagmar's Daughter, The Disappeared, Under the Visible Life and Speak, Silence. The Disappeared was shortlisted for the Scotiabank Giller Prize and won the Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers Award, and Speak, Silence won the 2021 Toronto Book Award. She was elected to the board of PEN International in 2024 and previously worked as an arts producer for CBC Television's The Journal.
