Socheata Poeuv is a documentary director and founder of the oral-history project Khmer Legacies.
Socheata Poeuv is a documentary producer-director who directed and appears in New Year Baby (2006), about a family that survived the Cambodian genocide and resettled in the United States (Wikipedia; PBS Independent Lens). She is chief executive of Khmer Legacies, a project that records video testimony about the genocide by having children interview their parents, with the goal of taping thousands of survivors (ITVS). She co-founded Broken English Productions, previously worked in American network television news, and was named an Echoing Green Fellow in 2007 and a visiting fellow at Yale University's Genocide Studies Program (ITVS).
