The Cambodian Space Project is a Cambodian psychedelic rock band formed in Phnom Penh in 2009.
The Cambodian Space Project is a psychedelic rock band formed in Phnom Penh in 2009 by singer Kak Channthy, also known as Srey Thy, and Australian musician Julien Poulson (Cambodian Space Project; Wikipedia). The group reworks Cambodian pop and rock songs of the 1960s and early 1970s alongside original material, released five albums and toured 24 countries (Wikipedia). Beyond recording, the band has made stage work, including the rock opera Hanuman Spaceman and the Berlin production Galaxy Khmer with theatre director Michael Laub and Phare Ponleu Selpak (Cambodian Space Project). Poulson has continued to base the project's work in Cambodia after Kak Channthy's death, touring without a permanent lead singer (ACMI).
