About the episode
The episode's description says that Him Sophy looks back on a childhood shaped by a musical family, by civil war and by survival under the Khmer Rouge. He recalls his study at the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory and the determination that carried him through.[1] The conversation then turns to how works such as Where Elephants Weep and Bangsokol: A Requiem for Cambodia brought Cambodian stories, memory and musical traditions to audiences around the world, and to the future of Cambodian classical music.[1]
