Description

This graphic memoir follows Lina, Khim, their son Chan, and extended family members after the Khmer Rouge takeover of Phnom Penh on 17 April 1975. The family is separated and reunited while attempting to survive forced labor, rural deprivation, persecution based on former identities, and a desperate crossing into Thailand. The narrative ends with their escape and the family’s later resettlement in France. (Asian Review of Books)
