Dengue Fever is a Los Angeles band that performs Cambodian rock and pop alongside original songs.
Dengue Fever is a six-piece band formed in Los Angeles in 2001, comprising vocalist Chhom Nimol, guitarist Zac Holtzman, keyboardist Ethan Holtzman, bassist Senon Williams, horn player David Ralicke and drummer Paul Smith (Wikipedia; Bandcamp Daily). The group performs songs recorded by Cambodian artists of the 1960s and 1970s, including Sinn Sisamouth, Ros Serey Sothea and Pen Ran, together with original material that draws on psychedelic, surf, Latin and jazz styles (Wikipedia; Bandcamp Daily). Its albums include Dengue Fever, Escape From Dragon House, Venus on Earth, Cannibal Courtship, The Deepest Lake and Ting Mong, released in September 2023 on the band's own Tuk Tuk Records (Wikipedia; Bandcamp Daily). The band also toured Cambodia for the documentary Sleepwalking Through the Mekong and has issued compilations of older Cambodian recordings (LA Phil; Bandcamp Daily).
