Book

The Cambodian Genocide Reading List, Part 2 is a list of eleven books on the genocide and its survivors, posted on Instagram by Beyond the Mekong in 2026.[1]

About the list

Old leather books, a bundle of palm-leaf manuscripts and an open book on a table before a columned library
Illustration inspired by a national library in Phnom Penh.

The list is subtitled "Survivor Stories and Reflections" and follows a first part shared a few posts earlier.[1] It was written for readers who came to the genocide through R. F. Kuang's novel Taipei Story and wanted to learn more. Most of the books are memoirs, with a few other kinds of writing. The memoirs are split between those by people who were adults during the genocide and those by people who were children or teenagers then. The list asks readers to borrow the books from a local library, or to ask the library to get a copy.[1]
